Last Thursday, August 27, at around 4:00 p.m., a Local Police officer from Alhama in plain clothes alerted his colleagues to the suspicious attitude of three individuals (two men and one woman) who were calling different homes in a street of the town.
Two patrols immediately appeared at the scene and the agents identified these people, who turned out to be linked to events that occurred the day before. On Wednesday, August 26, a neighbor had called the Local Police reporting that she had been approached in the street by an individual who identified himself with a badge as a secret police and had stolen approximately 200 euros from her bag.
This lady recognizes before the agents one identified as the alleged perpetrator of the events, reported to the Civil Guard. At that time (Thursday 27) the man was arrested, charging him with an alleged crime of usurpation of public functions, typified in art.
402 of the Penal Code.
The vehicle in which they were found lacked compulsory accident insurance, being reported for it and proceeding to remove it from the public highway.
One of those identified was also denounced for illicit possession of narcotic substances, according to the Citizen Security law. The next day, Friday the 28th, at mid-morning, another neighbor appeared at the Local Police offices stating that a male had gotten out of his vehicle identifying himself as a national policeman, addressing the latter's youngest son and requesting the documentation and informing them that he was chasing an organized gang of youth.
The mother, surprised, asked this alleged police officer why she was addressing her son and the man then left the place in a hurry and without answering.Minutes later, Local Police receive a call from another neighbor informing that a vehicle has hit their tourism and, by requiring the driver's documentation, he has identified himself as a national policeman in a hurry to leave the place due to being immersed in a chase .Immediately, the agents located the vehicle based on the description of the neighbor who had appeared at the barracks and that, in turn, coincided with the version of the accident.
They proceed to identify the driver, who re-identifies himself as a national police, for which they require the documentation and he does not provide it.
At that time, they were arrested for an alleged crime of usurpation of public functions and illicit possession of narcotic substances, as in the case of the previous day.The Councilor for Security and Citizen Protection, Felipe García, explained that "these actions have been resolved quickly and with the involvement of the Local Police officers." He has also highlighted the importance of citizen collaboration in the face of "any fact that may be suspicious, in which case the Local Police should be contacted immediately by telephone 968 630 001, with the Civil Guard by calling 062 or the single telephone emergency 112 ".
He also recalled that the crime statistics of Alhama are "well below the average of the rest of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia, thanks to the preventive work of the Local Police and Civil Guard".
