The City Council continues the campaign to control different species of mosquito that reproduce in our municipality.
For this reason, this past dawn the technical staff of the service concession company has carried out a treatment in the green areas of Alhama by spraying the vegetation and the immediate free spaces. The action is part of the mosquito control program that the Alhama City Council develops annually.
This year it started on April 3 and plans to extend it until December 9.
With the inoculation of ecological larvicidal products in the ponds of the area, we anticipate the high rate of reproduction that mosquitoes usually develop there.
On July 24, a general fumigation of green spaces in the town was also carried out, similar to that of this morning.Likewise, since April 8, the City Council has been regularly treating the 61 scuppers or rainwater grids that are in the streets of the town in a preventive way, since the intention is to prevent the reproduction of mosquitoes. However, a large part of the small accumulations of water that we have in the urban area is in private properties, both in houses and in lots and other similar spaces.
Therefore, it is important that neighbors collaborate and eliminate water points in flowerpots, gutters, buckets, drums, wheels, abandoned toys, ornamental fountains, etc.
Without this responsibility, the treatments applied by the City Council have very limited effectiveness.
