Watch San Lazaro is dyed "red" (26/03/2016)

In celebration of Holy Week the Church is full of colors and symbols.

Colors play a very important role on this date and mark different moments in the life of Jesus, before, during and after his sacrifice on the cross.

And red clock of the Church of Saint Lazarus as a sign of pain, suffering and martyrdom of Jesus Christ in this Holy Week Alhama stained.

Red is the color of blood, suffering, emotions and deep feelings, expression of pain, martyrdom and death of Christ.

The liturgy is not only processions, but every act and every Mass are loaded with symbolism in every way, and at this time the colors have a major burden on the cristina liturgy.

The red marks the martyrdom of Jesus during Friday and Palm Sunday the Church dresses in red too, as foretelling of the Passion of Christ.

However, during Easter the official color is purple (from Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday) as a symbol of penance and meditation, and is also used throughout Lent, except St. Joseph and the Annunciation of the Lord, in the the church dresses in white.

Holy Thursday during the afternoon wears white because it remembers the day of the Last Supper and the institution of the Eucharist.

While, Good Friday and Holy Saturday are again days of recollection and penance, and therefore wears purple again the streets.

Finally, on Easter Sunday closed Easter dressed in white, this day, also called Easter Day, the Resurrection of Christ is celebrated.
