From October 27, 2016 until March 15, 2017 has been developing the program of the Department of Culture and Heritage "Know the Library" that next year will turn twenty.
This program developed in the area of the Municipal Library, Children's Room, have participated during this course, classes of various schools and children's schools of Alhama.
There have been in total 36 classes of ages between 2 and 11 years who have enjoyed the library and its books, and especially of their stories by the hand of Fernando Torres, responsible for the Children's Room, through which they have passed, During this course, 36 classes with a total of 887 students, who then most children will spend with their parents.
This year we have also visited the Open Classroom of Sierra Espuña College which has been a new and moving experience for us to teach these children and special children the library and books.
This activity, which has been taking place since 1998-99, aims to encourage and promote the use of books and the library as a means of leisure and enjoyment, involving teachers, parents, grandparents and children.
The activity is that the librarian tells them about the library and shows them the different types of books.
He then tells several stories that, afterwards, they continue to see themselves with the collaboration of their teachers and, finally, they are made a collective card of the class.
With this card, teachers track library books they read in class.
Parents or family members who accompany the children to the Library are the active agents who collaborate with the children to change the books, each week or the time that their teacher deems necessary.
From the library we would like to thank all the educators and teachers for the support they have been offering to this activity from the beginning, and with this they develop reading habits from the earliest ages.
Without them, it would have been impossible every year to carry out this project.
