In the debate on the State of the Municipality, the three councilors of IU-Verdes took part.
For his part, Juan Romero made a tour of the 2 years of this legislature, in which alhameņos voters did not grant an absolute majority to any of the four political formations that currently make up the Consistory.
Governed in minority by the PSOE with its 9 Councilors.
We remind the municipal government, the main and most urgent programmatic proposals of IU-Greens, indicating that some of them had been taken over by the majority of the councilors represented and implemented here.
We regret that others, despite having sufficient support and the Government Team are still not running.
Emphasizing the great themes for the next years: citizen participation, transparency, recovery of services (cleaning buildings, Municipal Water Service and Road Cleaning and Collection and treatment of Urban Solid Waste), the construction of the new IES Valle de Leiva , Spa and final resolution of the defunct Paramount project.
Chencho Tomás stressed that Izquierda Unida has always been a party with a project for Alhama, with a recognized trajectory of honesty and seriousness, to be consistent with the programs and proposals of the left that serve to improve the life of the neighbors.
He then toured the great number of initiatives that have been pursued over the past two years, covering environmental issues, against free trade agreements (TTIP and CETA), transparency in municipal management, citizen participation, education, animal rights, Accessibility and mobility in our locality, remunicipalisation of services, public transport, human rights protection, gender violence, respect for diversity, right to housing, social assistance, etc.
Finally, he pointed out that 31 plenary sessions had been held, between ordinary and extraordinary meetings, in which 25 motions of IU-Greens had been debated, and another 12 had our signature jointly with other Municipal Groups.
In addition, we are a group that speaks to the neighbors, hears their complaints and their demands, transferring them to the plenary in the form of proposals, requests and questions.
The intervention of the Municipal Group of IU-Greens was closed by our spokeswoman, Isabel Campos, who wanted to show how difficult it is for the Group this legislature in which, from the outset, was located in the eye of the hurricane.
Being part of an opposition with which we do not agree ideologically, but not part of the government, however much machinely the right-wing groups lie and misrepresent reality.
A politically uncomfortable situation that, especially the first few months, was almost unsustainable.
We have received criticism from both the right-wing groups that, together with us, form the opposition, as well as those who are not part of the Consistory.
Our conclusion is that something we are doing well from that awkward place that has allowed us to stay true to our ideas, as well as maintain our independence in making decisions.
From the day of the investidura plenary, from the first minute, we began to work positively to facilitate the governance of our town hall.
Accepting participation in various municipal bodies such as: Industrialhama, Health and Safety Committee, Sierra Espuņa Tourist Association, Women's Advisory Council or Social Welfare Council, without any increase in remuneration to other members of the opposition.
From our group we think that now a political period is opening in which the way of working from the public positions must be based on the ideological confluence, transparency and citizen participation.
In IU-Greens we take municipal politics seriously, we present proposals, we attend all the meetings and municipal bodies and we have been in many cases the wall of containment that has stopped actions that are of little benefit to our people.
This has been and will continue to be our way of working.
Supporting any progressive proposal that puts in value the defense and recovery of the public, with which the general interest is excelled above the individual and with which a more participatory and egalitarian society is promoted.
This is the pact that we tacitly signed with each and every one of the alhameņos and alhameņas who believed in us and in our program.
