Since December 2016 the municipal technicians have been following the evolution of the trees of the Park of La Cubana, after detecting the decay of several individuals, until today.
A period in which treatments and actions to improve the vitality of three pine pines located next to the building of the House of Culture, have not been effective.
The symptomatological evolution of the pines has gone from a slight discoloration of the leaves, ending in a severe defoliation, and a high percentage of those that remain in their cups are dry.
The technicians have not clearly detected the origin of this deterioration, possibly because of environmental failures caused by climate change, resulting in great seasons of drought situations, coupled with high temperatures.
As well as the changes in ground level elevation made by planting grass.
Therefore, and given the high risk of falling in this area so busy, technicians have decided to eliminate the affected individuals.
After that the roots will be analyzed to help detect the most probable cause of the deterioration.
Instead, new trees will be planted to better adapt to the surrounding conditions.
The council has provisionally fenced the area while the logging works, which have begun this morning, to preserve the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.
