'Zangamanga 8' exposes as of Monday the works of the Psychosocial Care Center (13/10/2017)

The Councilor for Social Services, Felipe García, and the psychologist María Isabel García presented Friday the 8th exhibition Zangamanga, with work done by users of the Municipal Center for Psychosocial Care.

The event is part of the activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of World Mental Health Day, which this year is presented with the slogan "Working without masks.

With this motto, it is a matter of sensitizing the AAPPs and employers to promote and facilitate the right of people with mental health problems to access and maintain employment.

"We will begin to walk the road and as a first step, we will request information and advice from the Autonomous Community, as well as the Federation of Associations of Families and People with Mental Illness (Feafes) so that users of our center can join the program Euroemployment of the European Social Fund, which develops the Murcian Health Service, "said the councilman.

Last week, the Committee for Mental Health of the Confederation Mental Health Spain read a first-person writing in the Congress of Deputies, which read:

"What matter are dreams made of?

A new day dawned in a society where people lived to the full.

In the hour of dawn, at dawn, men and women sprouted with enthusiasm the purpose of effort;

surrendering to the most varied tasks.

In this way, each one got the best of himself, and in doing so, society gladly rewarded him in an independent way of life: a home and work that, although small, was more than enough.

The engineer, the schoolteacher, the warehouse waiter, ... all projecting their energy towards the same horizon: renewal and renewed hope.

And so day after day, making spring like barriers the barriers that, as unjust, were becoming evident.

Through the work carried out by the Municipal Psychosocial Care Center, the objectives continue to be the elimination in society of prejudices, discrimination, labels or lack of information.

In addition to continuing to improve the quality of life of people with mental illness and their families, enhancing skills such as self-improvement, responsibility, autonomy, participation and trust, among others, to achieve improved self-esteem.

Our municipality bet since 2008 for the care of people with mental health problems.

From the Department of Social Services meetings have been held with the Family Counseling so that this specialized service can be developed with greater quality through the application of the Dependency Law and can be converted into a day center.

This requires a determined commitment by the Autonomous Community, from where this service must be provided and financed.

Zangamanga 8

The exhibition Zangamanga reaches its eighth edition and, for a few months, the users of the Center for Psychosocial Care have been working conscientiously to offer a dynamic sample and, like the previous ones, full of enthusiasm, based on the work carried out by the professionals of the center , as well as volunteers.

This year will again count on the participation of children from our local schools, who will be able to interact with the users in the different projects and activities that are going to be shown.

The exhibition opens on Monday, October 16 at 8 pm in the El Pósito building and ends on October 27.

Last year the central project was the "camouflage", where they painted hands and arms of people, camouflaging in a background of colors.

This year, the council invites to reconnect with users of the center on guided tours and interact with them in the educational and playful projects they are going to present.

As a star project, visitors will be able to guide through a great book that explains the five senses (smell, touch, sight, taste and hearing) with games and dynamics, called 'Zangasentidos'.

Other projects that are going to be exposed are the canvases they have made, promoting teamwork, as well as a large mosaic with recycled clothing, as well as giant letters from ZANGAMANGA.

Exhibition timetable: from Tuesday 17 to Friday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
