The arrangement of the athletic track of the municipality will materialize next week through the direct grant of a subsidy to the Consistory and the signing of an agreement between the same and the Autonomous Community.
This "decisive achievement to promote sport in the municipality," as explained by the local coordinator of Cs, Bartolomé Valverde, is the result of work done by the orange formation through amendments to regional budgets for this year, "which include a specific item to set the track, 250,000 euros that will be used to endow the subsidy, "adds Valverde.
The regional investment represents 50% of the cost of the works, which will also add an equal amount contributed in this case by the City of Alhama de Murcia through its budgets for this year, already approved with the support of the municipal group of Cs.
In total, the investment will add half a million euros.
The athletics track is located in the Valle de Guadalentín Sports Center, and has been in service for more than 25 years since its construction in 1992 following the Olympic Games in Barcelona 92. Used by athletes and elite teams from all over Europe, its Logic degradation - especially in the tartan area - eventually drove them away.
"The most urgent thing is to undertake the arrangement of the tartan, so that the competition court can once again be approved by the IAAF and host both regional and national clubs and throughout Europe.

But the track, which hosted last week a tribute to Antonio Peñalver on the occasion of the 25 years of his Olympic medal, is not the only complaint that keeps Cs in Alhama de Murcia.
The training is also working to achieve the necessary investment for the settlement of the road linking the municipality with Mula and Pliego, RM-515;
and to speed up the construction of the new institute Valle de Leyva, once the Consistory has already provided the appropriate lands to the Ministry of Education ..
