The City Council of Alhama de Murcia and the fruit and vegetable company El Ciruelo have signed an agreement for the construction of a covered sports pavilion in the area of ​​El Praíco, with the aim of serving the new institute of Secondary Education and the residents of the municipality.
The company will finance the total cost of the work through the donation of 1,380,000 euros.
The City Council is committed to carry out the execution of the project, which must be in operation within a maximum period of two years.
If the final cost of the pavilion is less than the amount donated, the remaining money will be used for other projects of social interest.
The Ciruelo celebrates, through this social commitment, its twentieth anniversary, highlighting "the support of the society of which it is a part, which houses its most valuable asset, its workers, as well as its founders, its directors, to the farmers who have trusted in their project and to how many other people have participated in this entrepreneurial adventure ".
The parties have also highlighted "the implementation of these sports facilities, which will benefit all residents without exception, promoting healthy lifestyle habits."
"What was initially proposed as a mere collaboration has been expanded by taking advantage of the provisions provided by Spanish legislation on patronage protection, so that we have assumed the commitment to pay in full the cost of the new indoor sports pavilion ", Explains José Francisco Velasco, manager of the company.
For his part, the mayor Diego Conesa thanked the sponsorship initiative of one of the most important companies of the municipality "fruit of the will to reach beneficial agreements in the medium and long term for the general interest, where premium and support is agreed to the base sport, the sustainability and a change of model that has to be undertaken in the next years in Alhama ".
