Antonio Martínez Ovejero, is hosting the opening of the monolith erected in honor of D.
Ginés Campos Gomez, Republican mayor of Alhama de Murcia killed on April 3, 1940 by court summarily charged with military rebellion, having held the post of Mayor, to be red and propagandist element left, killed for the crime of having respected legality, freedom and the voice of his people.
This belated and deserved tribute, to be welcomed with joy by all those who love justice and freedom, for those who can never justify fascism, because everything Democrat carries a piece of Ginés Campos, a bit of all those who the length and breadth of history gave their lives for freedom.
The monolith is embedded a bronze bust of Ginés Campos, a plate with the last letter he wrote before being murdered and the portrait "Ginés Campos Gomez, Republican Mayor of Alhama de Murcia 1936-1938.
Executed by Franco's regime on April 3, 1940. "
