The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has completed the work of environmental soundness of the way of La Solana in the Sierra de la Muela, located in the town of Alhama de Murcia, which involves an investment of 57,500 euros.
This project has been financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and has generated 200 job wages.
The director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernández, said that road "had been disabled as a result of rock falls triggered by heavy rains in 2008."
Fernandez highlighted the difficulty of the work to restore this way, because, he said, "to hold the rocks were detached with galvanized wire mesh and then injecting expansive mortar to raze them."
Detached stone blocks were used to form a breakwater at the foot of the slope.
It also said the speed bump affected by landslides and gutters cleaned and conditioned over a mile away.
The manager said that after autonomic restoration work "may continue the tasks of forest management in the area as well as other works related to surveillance for prevention and protection against forest fires."
