The director of the Institute of Youth in the Region of Murcia, Veronica Lopez, accompanied by Regional Chairman Caja Mediterráneo, Angel Martinez, the mayor of Alhama de Murcia, José Swords, today presented the certificates of participation to 24 young people who have performed volunteer work in the field of international archaeological work taking place in the municipality.
The youths, aged between 18 and 26, come from different countries in Europe and Asia, such as Spain, France, Serbia, Turkey and Taiwan.
During his stay in the field, from 10 to 24 July, have worked in different archaeological work on the Cerro del Castillo, developing work within the fort on which they are carrying out actions of restoration and Late Antique remains value on Islamic and Christian (XI-XVI centuries).
The volunteers have participated in the study and analysis of deposits, environmental studies of the flora and fauna, restoration of the remains exhumed, mainly ceramics and coatings and cleaning, cataloging and inventory of materials (ceramics and utensils).
They have also conducted parallel activities of leisure, like trips and excursions to Murcia, Cartagena and the beaches of the region, visits to local heritage, craft workshops, music and dance and sports.
Summer Youth campaign 2010, the Institute of Youth intended 419,000 euros, of which 47,000 the box brings Mediterranean.
Other partners are the youth councils of the municipalities where they develop the various camps and labor camps.
