Nearly two dozen women from the city last week started the course "Gerontological Education" organized by the Department of Women.
Alhama City Council created the course with the intention to basic and continuing training to people who are dedicated to caring for dependent others.
Councillor for Women, Soledad Tudela, welcomed the students and the psychologist who teaches the course, Fuensanta Cascales.
It also recalled that one of the main objective is "to not only raise public awareness of the need to be trained to care for the elderly, but also ways of aging."
Added the mayor at the opening, on Monday 13, that this type of courses the Department of Women also aims to "promote the incorporation of women into the workforce."
The course is held Monday through Friday and will not end until 5 October.
