The works range from the repair of access to housing and comprehensive rehabilitation of the facades, to the installation of water saving systems and works to improve accessibility

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, together with the managing director of the Institute for Housing and Land in the Region of Murcia (IVS), Joan Brown, and the mayor of Alhama de Murcia, José Swords, today visited the rehabilitation works that the regional government is carrying out in 50 houses of public promotion of the municipality, within the Repair Plan.

José Ballesta said that "the Housing and Land Institute has invested 240,000 euros in these works that will benefit 50 families in the municipality that will improve their quality of life with a set of actions that are fundamentally social nature also a stimulus to employment."

Thus, the performances range from the repair of access to different housing and comprehensive rehabilitation of the facades, to improve the accessibility and the installation of water saving systems.

In this regard, the Minister explained that "water-saving measures in homes of regional public park will save 50 million gallons of water annually," adding that "we also are carrying out works to adapt housing to the needs of older people or have mobility problems, in order to ensure their accessibility and autonomy. "

He also said that this set of proceedings "includes not only the complete rehabilitation of neighborhoods, but also the social integration of citizens through a joint project between the regional administration, local corporate and municipal Social Services."

Over 1,500 families benefited

Finally, the Minister stressed that "the first and the second phase of Repair Plan, which have an investment of close to four million euros from the regional government of Murcia benefit 1,500 families and has reached a total of 16 municipalities Region. "

In the first phase of Repair Plan, the regional government undertook the rehabilitation of a total of 900 properties and currently is running the works of others who completed the second phase of this program to improve the living conditions of groups in rented houses belonging to the regional public park.
