Andrew Cavers Antonio Ros and David Grant have delivered this morning at City Hall the work they have developed to study the caves and chasms of the town.
Through the Center for the Study of Nature and the Sea, within the Federation of Speleology of the Region of Murcia, the experts mentioned alhameño have traveled the country to make an exhaustive work on the caves in the area.
As pointed out this morning Manuel Eagle Technical Environment of the City of Alhama de Murcia, was "to discover a hidden natural heritage that has a high historical and environmental value" and that it developed so far is a first step.
Andres Ros, meanwhile, claimed that in the course have found the existence of 2 caves that have been run first by man and has assured that Alhama has the largest number of voids in soil conglomerate in the region.
He has also spoken of the Sima del Vapor, linked to spas in the area and that is the deepest in Europe.
Ros has also stressed the cave of the Powder, which have found evidence of prehistoric and medieval habitat that has been defined by its geological structure as "a jewel of the region."
In total, these cavers have filed a report with 10 caves (four in El Castillo, five in La Muela and on the slopes of Sierra Espuña) that have been evaluated, tested and placed according to their geological value.
For its part, the mayor of the municipality, José Espadas, expressed his satisfaction for this study that opens doors to a future tourist exploitation.
In this sense he said it is "to diversify the natural aspects of the municipality to promote specialized tourism."
Not surprisingly, there are in our immediate environment other municipalities that are betting on sports tourism, specializing in the exploration of caves, which generates a growing economic contribution to the catering establishments and restaurants in those areas.
