The City of Alhama de Murcia, through the Department for Environment, launched ciclocalles calls.
José Miguel Muñoz, Councillor for the Environment in office, he realized this morning of the initiative.
He pointed out that this is a total of 14 kilometers and it is an "idea of the future."
As an example, this morning I had years ago, no one was accustomed to pedestrian crossings, however, today, rare is the vehicle that does not stop when a pedestrian has to cross one of them.
The ciclocalles have that claim to future for sustainable mobility.
The intention, the mayor made clear, is that "people end up opting for the bicycle in front of the car as a means of transport by the municipality" to "attain a higher quality of life and continue investing in our environment."
This action is framed within all the initiatives promoted by the Department of Environment in recent years through the Bicycle Master Plan to promote the healthy use, environmental and sustainable development of two wheels.
Moreover, Muñoz clarified that aims Street signs warn drivers that the streets are unique and are shared with the possible traffic of bicycles, so it should pay attention and take extra safety.
This commitment to the future would be meaningless now, citizens who have bicycles, which are the majority, do not use this vehicle and, indeed, become the town of Alhama in a healthy and friendly environment.
In addition, the initiative responds to demand their own citizens.
Recent studies by the General Directorate of Traffic, say 9 out of 10 bikes and Spanish are about 90% would use the bicycle as a transport medium were counted to safer roads.
