From 1 July to 31 August will be in effect the 2011 vaccination campaign against rabies in dogs and cats.
This was announced by the Councillor for Health, María José Cerón who said this is intended to raise awareness about their indispensable collaboration in disease control.
He said the mayor, in addition, dog owners will be informed of other measures that affect them the obligation to install the chip and be licensed if the animal is listed as potentially dangerous.
Vaccination can be done in veterinary clinics Alhama and the village of El Berro.
This campaign is mandatory for dogs from three months old and for cats recommended for from six months.

Moreover, the neighbors who have dogs or cats should know that animals vaccinated for the first time will be given an official health card, that if vaccination is the second or subsequent owner of the animal must be provided with the relevant health card.
Also, animals that meet the minimum age for vaccination after the end of the campaign may go to any of the clinics listed for, without penalty, to proceed with it.
Precisely controlling the risk of that infection, from the date of completion of the campaign all dogs whose owners do not have health vaccination card or the microchip will be collected as vagrants.

Those not meeting the standard risk a serious infringement is punishable by a fine of between 300 and 2,400 euros.
The cost of the vaccine during the campaign is 20 euros.
Microchip implantation
The identification of the dogs must be conducted by implanting a microchip, which is usually placed on the left side of the animal's neck.
This microchip contains a code which identifies the animal and owner.
