Farmers in Alhama de Murcia will begin to irrigate their crops with the new distribution system in the coming weeks, when you start the test phase of the modernization works of irrigated areas III and IV of the irrigation area of ​​Lorca and Guadalentín.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Magrama), through the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), has invested a total of 19,856,000 euros in a series of improvements that will increase productivity and save water, thanks automation and remote control of the entire system.
CHS President, Miguel Ángel Ródenas, this morning visited the area where the new decision by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Community of Murcia, Antonio Cerdá, the Mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Alfonso Ceron, and members community of irrigators Alhama.
Confederation technicians to irrigators explained the details of the work and their suggestions for improvement before its launch.
The work has involved the construction of 50 kilometers of pipeline to supply water from the Tajo-Segura to over 5,000 hectares with telling the irrigation community of Alhama.
We have also installed two regulating reservoirs along the canal on the right bank of the transfer, have modernized the other five shots which had hitherto been enabled and 44 kilometers of roads.
Finally, the entire system has been modernized irrigation control, through electrification of boxes and outlets, placing accountants and level measurements and remote control programs and facilities required for operation.
