The city of Alhama de Murcia, aware that high temperatures can cause negative effects on the health of older people in the municipality, active, like every year, the Prevention Plan to minimize or avoid such effects.
This plan starts from Municipal Telecare Service, which manages the company Televida, serving a total of 152 elderly or disabled.
The development of this plan has two types of measures: prevention and intervention.

Recommendations to avoid or reduce the impact of heat on health: these recommendations are provided from the Call Center and delivered as a brochure to all the users visited Telecare service professionals.
Advance information of temperature forecasts, exposing them in the Call Center and facilitated in real time (through the blackberry device) to all Televida professionals.
Identification in the database of users more vulnerable to the effects of extreme temperatures as socio-risk levels, differentiated into three levels, from the lowest level (risk1) to the highest (risk 3).
In the town of Alhama de Murcia, 63 people using telecare (41% of total) would be within this population group most vulnerable to extreme temperatures:

Intervention measures:
Application to the users most vulnerable older than 80 years who live alone and who, without being, have suffered an emergency as a result of extreme temperatures
Applying a symptom detection protocol against extreme temperatures and intervention for first aid station personnel and mobile units.
Installing safety devices in the homes of users more vulnerable to extreme temperatures in order to increase the safety of the users.
To strengthen the monitoring of the service users, both through calls from the Central Municipal Telecare Service as personal visits made by Homecare Intervention Services, Area Coordination departments and Installation and Maintenance Technicians.
Caring people most vulnerable users have contact with key, primarily those found in the medium and high risk.
Strengthen information and coordination with Social Services professionals.
