Both IU-Green Region of Murcia Alhama IU-Greens through its Political Council, extraordinary, held last Thursday 13/10/17, expressed his "complete and outright" opposition to the draft Local Reform Act has begun its passage through Congress of Deputies, considering it a "direct attack and clear" to the political autonomy of the municipalities recognized in the Constitution.
For IU-Greens Alhama de Murcia, the project "is a coup for local democracy in the making" and "establish a hierarchy of submission of the municipalities to the State and the Autonomous Communities."
With this reform municipalities also lose much of their powers "for the sole purpose that the services derived from them can be privatized"
According to IU-Greens Alhama, the reason given by the Government and the PP to justify this reform "does not hold the least since the deficit of municipalities is really insignificant in relation to the deficit of the public in its whole. "
In this regard, we must remember that by 2012 the deficit of the consistory (Town) stood at 0.3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) for the period 2013/2015 is expected to be 0 percent.
"This text does not solve the deep problems facing municipalities such as funding," and it is noted that "not once throughout this period has been raised a review of municipal finance from the State and autonomous communities ".
The reform "cuts services skills derivatives are eliminated, such as education, environment, promotion of equality policies, social services and consumer protection, and removes at a stroke decentralized democratic participation bodies to do away with the Local Authorities Minors ".
"It will also mean a reduction of civil servants of municipalities, resulting in increased public sector unemployment, fewer services and more expensive because the rates will be decided in organs and companies without any democratic control",
We say that the text "does not deserve another treatment from the public and municipal corporations, that the response and absolute democratic rebellion and convincing".
From that response, IU-Greens Alhama, presented and raised for discussion and approval at the City Council a motion requesting the withdrawal of the said Act
