Councilman Works and Services of Alhama de Murcia, Miguel Gonzalez, today began a round of visits to the classrooms of fifth of the various schools of the locality, to present a new cardboard recycling campaign and light packaging that carries a competition among students.
The Department of Public Works and Services is carrying out, as it did last year, several awareness campaigns funded almost entirely by ECOEMBES.
The purpose of these campaigns is to improve recycling in the town of Alhama de Murcia.
The mayor explained this morning that the service concessionaire, ECOEMBES, performed periodically direct monitoring of the quality of service, and the latest evidence of this monitoring indicate, among other things, that in the town of Alhama de Murcia installed container volume per capita is higher compared to the national average for cities of the same characteristics.
According to data from ECOEMBES, the municipality of Alhama have 99% more capacity in packaging containers, and 77% more capacity in cardboard containers from the mean.
However, even though the capacity in terms of recycling containers is concerned, is very high, the collected kilos per well below the average of the Region of Murcia, which in turn is located below the national average.
Therefore, all the actions that are taking place in the media and those that will be developed in a local primary school are intended to improve the data.
Keep in mind that the proper management of all waste is very important for the conservation and improvement of the environment.
Regarding the actions to be developed in the public schools, they are going to do this year in every classroom of 5 th grade from each of the centers.
They want to develop during the month of November and will be making two competitions: one drawing and other objects making bottles, cardboard boxes, plugs ultimately recycled objects.
Each participant was presented with a shirt that will print the picture who wins the contest.
In addition, winners will receive a prize that could be school or sports equipment.
In the town of Alhama de Muria, during the year 2012 end dump took a total of 11,032 tons of waste that was recycled, compared with 10,931 tons of non-recycled waste of 2.011.
In addition to the impact it has on the environment, the fact that amount of waste deposited in the landfill is a very high cost, and could be declining if recycles all waste that is recyclable, as these are not going to landfill and not have to pay these costs for landfill, which saves money for everyone.
Also, Miguel Gonzalez noted that "the Department of Works and Services appreciates all the efforts made by citizens to carry out the recycling of waste".
Campaigns and interest of the neighbors are giving their results and, "among all has been increased year by year the amount of packaging, cardboard and glass are recycled and not carried landfill", pointed out the mayor.
Miguel Gonzales recorded data offered: "It should be noted that recycling of paper and cardboard in 2012 has increased by 1.15% (40 tons) compared to 2011, and lightweight packaging recycling has increased in 2012 by 1.03 % (3.4 tons) for 2011 ".
Finally, the mayor noted that "both children and adults, at home, at school or at work ... if we recycle the waste we help protect our environment.'s Try."
