"When we walk cole" a pioneering step in the Region of Murcia to promote road safety
Last Friday an initiative on road safety, a pioneer in the Region of Murcia, aimed at students from schools in the town, "When we walk cole" was presented.
In the presentation of this measure were present, the local mayor, Fernando Alfonso Ceron Morales, the provincial head of traffic, Virginia Pérez Cayuela, the Councillor for Local Police and Traffic, Angela Sanchez Eagle and the mayor of Works and Services, Miguel Cabrera González.
Angela Eagle Sanchez explained that this measure was taken and worked by the departments of Local Police, Traffic, Works and Services, thanks to an idea proposed from the provincial traffic.
"The general idea is to create meeting points of nearby colleges, identified by signs, for children to go alone or with their parents walking to school."
Among the objectives set by the mayor found that the "children into counting progressively greater autonomy" and other basic content is the traffic congestion in the doors of the schools in and out of classes.
Águila Sánchez has also clarified that the meeting points that are close to schools, "are perfectly marked with signs and posters."
The routes to schools are also delineated with signs on sidewalks and footprints painted on the sidewalk.
Virginia Pérez Cayuela, provincial traffic chief, said that the main objective of these initiatives is the safety of children, "in that sense I have to thank the efforts of the city of Alhama de Murcia and I congratulate them for be the first municipalities in the Region of Murcia in taking this action.
