Councillor for Women, Lola Canovas, has welcomed 25 students, who performed as a novelty in the latter quarter of the "First Workshop on Self-Defense for Women" organized by the Department.
The course is conducted on the premises of the Municipal Sports Pavilion "Adolfo Suárez" on tatam room.
It is taught by Arantxa Ferre Leza, instructor specialist in traditional Okinawan Karate (Goju Ryu) and self defense for women, and will run for 12 two-hour sessions, to be held on Thursdays from 17:00 to 19:00 in the later.
Self-Defense Workshop brings physical and psychological resources so that students acquire a more complete understanding of their physical capacities, improve their health and self-esteem and learn to recognize risky situations and violence.
The aim is to implement prevention strategies and self-protection to increase safety, self-confidence and physical, mental and social wellbeing.
In the exercise sessions and specific training is developed through group dynamics and games, also including stretching, massage and relaxation.
Alhameñas lot of women have been interested in this workshop and requests far exceeded the number of places available, so they have remained on the waiting list for future editions.
