FAPA-RM: "Reasons for the outrage in the public teaching of Alhama" (03/03/2015)

The signing of the final agreement between the Ministry of Education and the College Azaraque (private center of Alhama), for which it is granted the concert in primary and secondary education (ESO) education, causes a strong indignation throughout the educational community.

There are several reasons:

As everyone recognizes, including the City of Alhama itself, has no problems of schooling in secondary education in our town.

Besides primary enrollment decreases each year and the trend is downward, so no schooling needs which require or warrant recourse to private school.

Quite the contrary, this agreement supposed to close classrooms in public schools to open them in the private-arranged, ie, with public money.

Two years ago the private school was presented in Alhama, at the solemn ceremony at City Hall, we were told that it would arranging for child gradually and according to need.

However, now based advance two stages: primary and secondary.

An issue as important as this has not even been tried in the Municipal School Board;

was done back the entire educational community.

Publication in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia was in full Christmas holidays (namely December 23).

It should not surprise us: if we consider what has been said in the preceding paragraphs, all evidence to the promoters of the agreement have wanted to give minimal publicity thereto.

In the absence of an official reason to justify this concert, we report that aided schools do not work like the public.

They have no place certain types of students: students with disabilities, lack of language, problems in literacy, etc .;

it is not profitable to have certain teachers only for a certain students.

All this will influence social cohesion and will generate discrimination.

Education should be public and serve all.

Our City Council, which always has facilitated the establishment of this company even modifying the PGOM promised us alhameños the adequacy of access would not cost us a penny, however, budgets for this year are assigned a starting the second phase of the expansion of the road, while priority actions in public schools are left undone.

They subsidize the morning service;

and even pretended to subsidize the Ampa with the same amount as the other AMPAS, when many students have less.

Why do it?

Anyone could suspect that there is some sort of personal or political commitment between them has not leaked to the public.

We look forward to what happens.

We left for the end the main reason for indignation.

No matter who likes it, Alhama has been an excellent model of coexistence among all its people.

The two institutes have been distributed equitably school population, which have been known to offer quality education.

Our public schools have been a model of good practice nationally (Coexistence Congress in 2010) and international (Quality Week 2015).

It is heartbreaking that the public administration, instead of coddling and try to export to other municipalities which in Alhama is, aim to get into the town concerted education, albeit with a shoehorn and risk of spoiling the model of social coexistence achieved.

For all these reasons, we have created an integrated by parents and teachers of institutes Valle Hernandez and Miguel Leiva to perform a series of actions commission:

Campaign to collect signatures where explanations to the Ministry of Education for these concerts are asked where the public have no problems with the registration of students in Alhama.

The teachers of the two schools, parents, students and all those who wish to join every Wednesday of February will focus during recess, from 11:15 to 11:45 h., At the last roundabout of Avenida Ginés Campos towards Totana, known as the "hub roundabout"

Convene a demonstration on March 1, at 11 am, due out from the door of IES Miguel Hernández and tour several streets to end at the Town Hall Square with a manifesto.

Given the stakes so blatant that is doing the Ministry of Education for private education in the Region of Murcia, we can not stand by while public education is gradually dismantled: fewer teachers, more students per classroom, student programs are removed with difficulty etc.

We invite you to this event or any other to criticize this policy concerts unnecessary and that only benefits a few.
