Last year 2014, the city of Alhama de Murcia resumed the old labor camps that became international and who had been doing since 2000. These sponsored by the Institute of Youth in the Region of Murcia, accounted fields a meeting point between students from different countries, who had a close coexistence of work, educational and recreational activities, cultural trips, language exchange, etc.
all of which it was in an important action that was taking place in the archaeological sites of the castle and the drainer, with the main objective the recovery and enhancement of the archaeological heritage.
Since last year, as from the Autonomous Region of Murcia and not these labor camps, the city of Alhama through the Department of Culture and Heritage and Youth programmed, considered of great interest to recover that spirit of labor camps, enriching the training and practical archeology students and developing turn, an important work of recovery of their heritage.
Field Work in the Field of Las Paleras in 2015.
The field development work will be carried out in the site of The Paleras in the Cerro del Castillo that has been excavated since 2006. During these years has documented the existence of a walled town of emiral period (late VIII century until the middle of Century X).
Both the architecture and the ceramic and archaeobotanical findings bring us closer to the daily life of these centuries, both as a quadrangular citadel on the set of houses surrounded by a perimeter wall.
The rooms have been built with stone plinths and land locked with packed dirt floors.

This year 33 students have enrolled, graduates and volunteers who come from Alhama de Murcia, Totana, Murcia, Librilla, Orihuela, Elda, Calasparra, Casillas and a student of Rosario, Argentina.
Participants are divided into groups of 11 people who will go through all stages of an excavation and thus can acquire the basic knowledge and archaeological methodology to assist in an archaeological dig.
With this program we consider that out is going to take an important theoretical and practical training: a thorough knowledge of our Roman and medieval heritage of Alhama;
a number of archaeological methodology practices both excavation field and laboratory work that will provide students experience in this type of work;
an approach to the various ceramic contexts of the Museum of Alhama de Murcia, which enable them to distinguish the different ceramic types and their chronologies;
They will participate in consolidation work and restoration of wall structures at the site and participate in daily and interpretation of results.
Given the strong demand of students from other universities, the city of Alhama, had to extend the initial forecast of 24 places to 33, bringing the admission criteria which has been established on the basis, first to students or graduates history, art history and related sciences, residents in Alhama de Murcia.
The second option was the extension to other students interested in science residents in Murcia and the third option was expanded to history students or graduates in History of the Region of Murcia or other regions, with the exception of Argentina participant and determined to come available.

The municipality of Alhama has made sure each of the participants, provides lunch morning, and gives each participant a personal card that gives free entrance to the Summer Film projections and Municipal Pool during day being performed Labor Camp.
The municipality of Alhama provides all the working equipment, tools, gloves, etc.
The municipality shall issue a certificate of achievement in the practices signed by qualified technicians who have given each of the practices excavation, drawing and restoration.
