The City of Alhama de Murcia will participate in the proposed campaign by the Ministry of Development and Planning called "Clean Up the World 2008" held for the second consecutive year in the Region of Murcia.
This is a global environmental campaigns of greater international impact.
Program sponsored by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), meets every year to some 40 million volunteers in over 100 countries.
The campaign consists of cleaning waste from one area of the municipality selected for its high environmental interest, in or near protected natural areas.
This activity will take place on 27 September 2008 in Alhama de Murcia search main objective of improving our environment, cleaning up degraded areas while raising awareness about the use of our waste.
To carry out the activities the City will provide transportation to the place where it will proceed to clean and those plug-ins to take place (signs, trash bags, gloves, hats and dungarees), and a snack for all volunteers who participate in it.
Our municipality has, unfortunately, with several areas of uncontrolled and illegal dumping of waste of all kinds in environmentally important sites such as the protected landscape of Saladares Guadalentín and surrounding areas of Sierra Espuña, all of which are of great ecological value.
These are areas that, besides having a high landscape value and botanist, collaborate in the maintenance of animal species as unique and increasingly threatened as the Badger.
In this sense, one of the areas selected for cleanup coincides with the area where it develops other environmental voluntary action called "Project Badger", with which it aims to improve habitat for this species is essential for the elimination of residues in their breeding and passage.
For the development of the "Clean Up the World 2008 is essential collaboration of all those entities, associations and citizens interested in environmental volunteer.
All these entities and individuals to issue a diploma certifying their participation.
To expand information about the campaign, the Council has convened a meeting with private entities, associations and people interested in environmental action, a meeting that will take place on June 4 in the House of Culture at 20:00 .
