From 15 to 17 the hamlet of Gebas held its festivities in honor of La Purisima, an occasion that has been used to open the Chapel Hillock of Los Lobos dedicated to the Virgen del Rocio.
On the afternoon of August 15, Juan de Dios Cabezas, Technical Department of Natural accompanied the mayor, Juan Romero Canovas, at the opening of the chapel dedicated to the Virgen del Rocio and located in the Hillock of the Wolves, the hamlet of Gebas.
This chapel was built at the initiative of the residents of the parish and with the support of both the City of Alhama and the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
The work was made possible through the generosity of private initiative.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by many neighbors and the pastor of La Concepcion, Antonio Ballester, who was charged with the blessing of the chapel and the image of the Virgen del Rocio.
Made the blessings, the first mayor and one of the main causes of the natural park of Sierra Espuña, site of the hamlet, they proceeded to cut the tape, which was inaugurated the chapel.
Moreover, the rondalla "Golden Age" was put in charge of the musical note to the act by singing the Salve Rociera, proper to the occasion.
That was her first act which initiated the festivities of the parish dedicated to the Virgin.
After the traditional opening contest began crumbs and various activities that did not end until Sunday 17 August with the procession of La Purisima and a mass in his honor celebrated by the pastor of La Concepcion, Antonio Ballester and sung by the rondalla "The Golden Age. "
In the planning of celebrations of the parish there have been festivals, children's games, contests, etc, activities that do not missed the first mayor of the municipality, Juan Romero Canovas, always accompanied by Councilwoman Pedanías, Soledad Tudela, by Gebas headman, Francisco Martinez and various members of the Municipal Corporation.
