The weekend continued the activities marking International Volunteer Day organized by the City through the Department of Social Policy.
On Friday, December 5, was held in the Hall of the municipality Goya Volunteer Dinner, a day of living together which was attended by José López Nuñez, as acting mayor, the councilman of Social Policy, Fina Garcia and several members of the Municipal Corporation.
Social Policy The mayor made a statement which said that "joining the Volunteer Day celebration is a proposal that officially recognize the work of all those who contribute on a voluntary and unpaid, in improving their environment."
During the course of dinner also presented the Volunteer Award Solidario VII this year was awarded to Matías Martínez Balsas.
This award is a volunteer solidarity unanimously elected through the Social Welfare Council, taking into account the various applications received from the partnerships.
The award, a native of Alhama de Murcia, son of a poor family, raised the family business in which he worked all his working life between nuts and bolts.
Among many other qualities distinguished by its ability to serve others, regularly participates in parish life of St. Lazarus and the ropería Bishop of Caritas, to provide support and care to the needy.
