On March 13 a group of environmental volunteers Alhama Book Project reunited in the Municipal Ecoparque to sort and pack the latest books and materials collected during the second year of the Project Book.
Thanks to these volunteers were packaged and labeled a total of 13 boxes weighing more than 400 kilos of books and school supplies that will be used by teachers and students from Peru and Nicaragua.
The total collected since the City started the second year of the book project has exceeded the figure of 2 tonnes.
With this final qualifying session and packaging ends another phase of this project which aims to promote education, enhance our social and human values and share our culture while we take care of the environment.
In late March the Department of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control will arrange collection of all boxes of books and teaching materials in all Ecoparks packaged and sent to sea to the aforementioned countries.
This process has been possible thanks to the solidarity of the inhabitants of Alhama that have deposited their used books and instructional materials enabled boxes in various town centers and the help of volunteers who have participated in environmental processes sorting and packaging that have taken place in the Municipal EcoPark.
