On Saturday, April 25, the Plenary Hall of the City hosted the awards ceremony of the IX Literary Short Story Competition Alfonso Martínez Mena.
The event was attended by the local mayor, Juan Romero Canovas, accompanied by most of the jury, including the Director General of Books, Archives and Libraries, Francisco Giménez, as well as the famous writer alhameño that names the contest, Alfonso Martínez-Mena.
The first prize of 3000 euros was collected by the author himself, the Sevillano Jose Quesada Moreno, who was responsible for reading the story called "The Shadow of the Magnolia" submitted under the pseudonym JJ Castillo.
The contest winner also won first prize in the competitions: Creating Youth Literature (Ayuntamiento de Sevilla), Jose Maria Franco Delgado, narrative (San Fernando-Cádiz) Poetry Contest Lasarte-Oria (Guipúzcoa); Contest Fantastic Tales of Terror Ides of March, Dos Hermanas (Sevilla) Apoloybaco Poetry Contest (Sevilla); Contest Microstories Manuel Nevado Madrid Miners (Asturias) Love Letters Contest Rumayquiya (Sevilla), and Short Story Contest Peñarroya Villa of Tastavins (Teruel).
He has also won second prize in the competitions: Short Stories Award, UNED (Madrid), Juan Cervera poetry contest (Lora del Rio, Sevilla); Contest fiction in the Lower Nalón (Asturias), and Short Story Contest " City Arévalo (Ávila).
He was a finalist in contests: Andalusian Youth Contest, in point of poetry (Almería) Creative Writing Contest People's University of Alcorcón, in the form of narrative (Alcorcón, Madrid); Contest Apoloybaco, in point of poetry (Sevilla), Luis Adaro Prize short story (Gijón, Asturias); grooves, Poetry (Coria del Rio, Sevilla), and Short Narrative Competition "Julio Cortázar", University of Murcia.
It also has an Honorable Mention in the Poetry Contest Gustavo Adolfo Becquer (Sevilla).
In 1995 Seville represented in the "VII Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean", held in Lisbon.
He has also published, in a timely manner, in Creation Literary magazines ("Amphora Nova," however "," Imaj "...) and media in Philadelphia (USA).
All the texts published to date have appeared in various editions joint, two books: "On the side of light" (Quasyeditorial, 1994) and "A few syllables" (City of Loja, 2004).

The winner of the second prize of 1500 euros, the Zaragoza Maria Luisa Frisa Grace, could not attend the event so Gomariz Francisco, Professor of History and Art, was commissioned to read this story called Jacob's Ladder, presented under the Manderley motto.
This award is a Diploma in Social Work degree in Clinical Psychology Mary and is currently studying philology.
Avid reader did not begin, however, until the summer of 99 his first dabbled in writing.
Since then he has won more than fifty literary awards and his work has been translated into Italian and French.

He has also collaborated on several short story collections as "Tales to taste" (Participants: Soledad Puértolas, Carlos Javier Tomeo or CAST) and "Red, Yellow, Purple: tales Republicans" (Participants: Lucia Etxebarria, Marta Sanz and Isaac Rosa) "What people do not know" (Participants: Espido Freire, Lola Beccaria or Eugenia Rico).
