Alhama de Murcia, a finalist for the Sustainable City Award in the category of Water
Alhama de Murcia has served as a finalist in the Sustainable City.
The municipality has made its Environmental Assessment and has set up its first draft Local Action Plan.
He currently holds various lines of work on sustainability (water saving, improved energy efficiency, combating climate change, promotion of sustainable mobility, environmental disclosure, participation in protected natural space management, collection of waste, reuse of waste materials into less developed countries, etc.) with the task of reviewing the Plan and, above all, the project of revitalization of citizen participation.
Thus the name "Take climate change seriously" has started an intense awareness for the sole purpose of placing this issue within the framework of decisions of the private life of every citizen.
To collect the prize have traveled to the Catalan city mayor of the municipality, Juan Romero Canovas, accompanied by the mayor of the Environment, José Miguel Muñoz Andreo and Environment technicians who developed the award-winning program.

Other municipalities awarded in this seventh edition were Mataró (in the category of Water), Toulouse (in the category of Atmosphere), Puerto del Rosario (in the category of Energy), Ruby (in the category of waste) and Gozón ( Special Mention in the category of Natural Resources).
New this year, the Environmental Forum Foundation has also granted 5 finalists: one from each category.
