The City of Alhama de Murcia, through the Department of Agriculture reports that from 1 June to 30 November takes place mandatory vaccination against the blue tongue.
The Directorate General of Livestock and Fisheries will provide the vaccine free to all vets who apply to participate in this program.
This schedule will be developed on the following animals:
Sheep-Goats
Breeding animals and vaccinated in 2008, will apply for a booster.
Replacement animals older than 4 months not previously vaccinated, two doses 21 days apart.
Bovine
Breeding animals and vaccinated in 2008, will apply a booster dose
Replacement animals older than 4 months not previously vaccinated, two doses 21 days apart.
Bait animals older than 4 months and under 9 months not previously vaccinated, two doses 21 days apart.
Bait animals older than 9 months regardless of whether or not previously vaccinated will not be vaccinated.
This vaccination will be held on June 1, 2009 and November 30, 2009 and its implementation is concerned must be contacted along with the veterinarian of their health advocacy group or a veterinarian free.
Also reported that veterinarians participate in this program are required to certify the implementation of the vaccine in a telematics and individualized animal in both species, for the record in the database RIIA.
This certification will be necessary from November 30, 2009 to perform movements of their livestock.
