The Ministry of Agriculture and Water signed a collaboration agreement with the owners of the farms located within the boundaries of the Regional Park of Sierra Espuña to ensure the improvement of the natural environment and eco-forest regeneration.
The area host the convention is divided into six plots of trees, located within the municipal area of Alhama de Murcia, totaling about 49 acres.
To achieve the targets set in the agreement, valid for the next ten years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, will carry out the silvicultural work and infrastructure improvements necessary to improve the training of pine trees and the reduction of risks associated with it, like pests, fire or excessive pressure from human or from human activity.
The owners of the farms located within the territorial area of the park, which have high ecological value, previously signed a collaboration agreement with the Autonomous Region for the preservation of this natural area during the period 1997-2007.
The work carried out under both agreements are funded by the Executive Murcia.
Regional Plan of Management of Natural Resources Espuña
The limits of this nature were adapted to the Regional Plan for Natural Resource Management (PORN) in 1995, which aims to preserve and ensure the sustainability of forest resources of the park, promote the development of the forest towards more mature and stable, and forest regeneration in areas affected by external agents such as drought or floods, among other phenomena.
