"Rural development in protected natural areas and Natura 2000" is the title of the Course of the International University of the Sea to be held in Alhama de Murcia during the week of 21 to 25 September.
Specialists led by José María Egea Fernández, Professor of Botany at the University of Murcia, Manuel Guillén Eagle, Environmental Technician City of Alhama and Juan de Dios Cabezas, Chief Curator of the Regional Park of Sierra Espuña, the course aims to analyze the rural development strategies in protected areas from an agroecological perspective and alternative tourism.
The speakers will address the importance of traditional agricultural systems in the conservation of nature and the positive aspects that accompany them, something he has to say those responsible should receive a payment for environmental services to society.
This is an initiative of particular interest to know the importance of traditional agricultural systems and rural cultures in the management of protected areas and their potential for generating activities that contribute to regional development.
The course includes visits to places that develop different strategies for land stewardship and rural development in protected areas.
Students who enroll in it shall be entitled to four free credits.
