This afternoon, the mayor of the municipality, Juan Romero Canovas and general director of Local Government, Juan Antonio Morales Rodríguez, opened the refurbishment of the iconic garden of San Cristobal.
The work has had a total budget of 250,580 euros, of which 150,000 have been funded by the Autonomous Region through the Ministry of the Presidency under the Cooperation Fund for the year 2008.
Work began early last July and this week have been completed.
The work consisted in the remodeling of a public garden of 4,129 meters square with its comprehensive settlement that involved the total recovery of trees, installing a walk-source and the configuration of two play areas for children.
Also replaced the furniture, have recovered perimeter sidewalks and replaced the paving of the area.
This garden, located in the center of town, in a residential area opposite the public school Ginés Díaz-San Cristobal is one of the most used recreational areas for locals.
Morales has stressed the importance of the Autonomous Community of the region given to the rehabilitation of areas in the municipalities so has welcomed the investment by the regional government in the redevelopment.
For its part, the mayor thanked the continued collaboration of the Ministry of the Presidency to the town of Alhama.
Adela de San Nicolás, Parks & Gardens councilman, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the garden and has highlighted the improvement in various green spaces precisely thanks to the cooperation of other governments as autonomous.
